Danish design represents a mark of quality, the reputation of which reaches far beyond the country’s borders. Kolding School of Design sees it as its task to help strengthen the position of Danish design both nationally and internationally by educating and equipping world class designers to engage rich, innovative and creative working lives. The school has a vision to inspire, challenge and develop Danish design and the role, relevance and reach of the designer in a global reality.

The overall objective of the school's internationalisation strategy is to realise the school’s vision. The success of this ambition is to be measured by good international rankings, excellent professional assessments of the school’s activities, a continual recruitment of international students and staff and by a positive employment rate and great jobs for the school’s graduates. The school must be internationally recognised for its outstanding professional and research core services and its international activities.

Kolding School of Design’s internationalisation strategy focuses on
1) international students: the strengthening of the international educational environment and of the educational networks and
2) international collaboration: activities and collaboration with industry, interested parties, universities, organisations, etc.

Kolding School of Design distinguishes itself by exemplarily combining the two focal areas by working with political councils, bodies and institutions as well as industry on issues of design and aesthetics, thus contributing to decisions and developments relating to design strategy and design education.
