HOLGER DANSKE IMPROVES THE QUALITY OF LIFE FOR SENIORS
Many elderly people find it hard to keep their balance for various reasons. This causes unnecessary falls and injuries. Can anything be done to alleviate this? Hans Christian Falkenberg-Hansen believes so, and to that end, he has designed a very special robot. The robot is called Holger Danske (named after the mythical Viking warrior who will rise and defend Denmark in times of trouble) and is a so-called ‘wearable’, an outer skeleton that supports the person in motion so as to avoid falls. It will make seniors feel safer in their everyday surroundings and thus improve their quality of life.
