With Aesthetics in Mind

A Study of Participatory Design as a Framework for
Evaluating the Aesthetics of Knowledge and Learning Environments

By PhD fellow Tine Ebdrup

The purpose of the research project is to develop methods and tools that can be used in participatory processes when evaluating the aesthetics of knowledge and learning environments. The processes involve users and other interested parties. Through working with scenarios both at model stage and in rooms, the participants' attention is directed towards the significance of the objects, materials and colours in a room, as well as the movement and placement options the space makes available.

The research project is practice-based and uses research-through-design as its overarching method.
