Anniversary exhibition
In 2017 Design School Kolding will be celebrating its 50th anniversary with a large exhibition that sets out to create dialogue. The exhibition will be displayed inside the grand Ruin Hall at the royal Koldinghus castle under the headline BEYOND ICONS. It will show design solutions that are inspiring but not necessarily celebrated.
We want to highlight designs that are not iconic “classics” but make or have made a difference in people’s lives, to the environment, the design profession, or the industry. In other words we want to create an anniversary exhibition that gives the audience an aha experience and focuses on design products and design solutions from the last 50 years that you do not see on magazine covers, but which inspire us to see design as a multi-faceted and solution oriented discipline.
We want to achieve this by inviting interesting personalities, debaters, researchers, artists, politicians, company owners, designers and users to act as guest curators and pick their favourite design from the last 50 years.
Graduation exhibition
No anniversary celebration without also celebrating our new young designers who graduate in June. We do so with a graduation party and exhibitions - permanent and mobile.
REDO for impact
30 May - 2 June Design School Kolding will be hosting a large-scale international design conference under the auspices of the Cumulus Association. The REDO conference focuses on launching initiatives that will allow design to have influence and impact on political decision-making processes in favour of sustainable change. One of the keynote speakers will be the European Commissioner for Competetion Margrethe Vestager. She has accepted an invitation to come and speak about design and innovation as the real levers for prosperity rather than tax evasion and anti-competitive practices.
Cumulus Association is the only global association to serve art and design education and research. It is a forum for partnership and transfer of knowledge and best practices. Cumulus consists currently of approx 230 members from around 50 countries. The Kolding conference expects the participation of more than 300 researchers and designers.

Once again, Design School Kolding will be present at the world's largest design fair in Milan.
Design Week Kolding
In week 22 - the same week as the REDO conference is held - Kolding will be hosting Design Week Kolding. The purpose of this event is to bring together the citizens, companies and educational institutions of Kolding Municipality. We look forward to being a part of this.
