what if...?

Hello!

Here we are!

Phase 4 of the course future spaces has begun. We had a chance to split the group and individually develop the project, and so we did.

Our common scenario is what if Kolding 100 year from now became a city of sensation, play and creativity?

Starting from this premise, I decided to create a neighborhood called hide and seek, and my focus is to analyze how the behavior of citizens can change in relation to changes in laws or rules, especially if the rules are those of a game: what if the hide and seek rules where the etiquette in a city? what if hiding is allowed in every annoying situation? Would be the values we have today the same? what should we give importance? what about old people or people with disease? special rules? social help? and the city, how it can look like?  and simply, how people will behave in the daily life?

I identified myself with a kolding kommune's designer ( camouflage office) and she is creating a welcome kit ( as one that you receive nowadays when you move to Kolding). In the welcome kit you can find :

- instructions

- a stick

- a little container

- a piece of textile with a special ink

Basicly, the new citizen will receive a letter from the municipality with the rules of the neighborhood and in this letter, the mayor suggest you to collect the welcome kit at the Sky building in Kolding. Once the citizen has the kit, he/she has to touch the fabric with the special ink. When the tissue responds (changes color) the citizen, with the help of a stick, must collect the bacteria that are on this textile and put them, carefully, into the container.

Once the procedure id done the citizen have to send the little container to the camouflage office. At this place, the camouflage office, a special team will create a fabric developing by these bacteria and then a glove to be returned to the citizens. This glove will help the citizen to hide when think most appropriate, but for a maximum of 150 times a year.

Of course that the narrative is important to create fictional design, so it was really good for me to have a workshop with Silvia Grimaldi from ual. London. We explore much more our project and analyze how the narrative is included, and how the narrative can be a method to develop our design.

From this workshop I realized that I need 4 fictional character to be able to describe how people live in this neighborhood and how thay behave.
