Communication Design

On the Communication Design programme you learn how to inform in an objective way, to improve communication by strategy, to bring awareness or change behaviour, and how to deliver a holistic service or experience by interaction. Collaboration with industry and excellent workshop facilities allow you to advance your analogue and digital skills and work with storyboards, coding and prototyping.

Stephan Saaltink (1953) holds a degree from the Academie voor Beelden Kunsten in Arnhem. He has an outstanding career as a typographic and editorial designer. He started Typography & Other Serious Matters in Rotterdam, and worked at Total Design, the famous Corporate Identity agency in Amsterdam. He joined a leading Dutch newspaper (NRC Handelsblad) and a magazine (Vrij Nederland) and introduced two typefaces, Lexicon (Bram den Does) and Capitolium (Gerard Unger), to a bigger audience. Most recently he has been the vice of the Willem de Kooning Academy Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences and a visiting scholar at Western Michigan University i Kalamazoo USA. Stephan Saaltink has been Head of Communication Design since 2014.
