Industrial Design

At Design School Kolding’s industrial design workshop, ID students experiment with models and prototypes for the products of the future. The workshop is supervised by a workshop manager with a design background who can provide support and spar with students on their projects at a high professional level.

At the workshop, students can work with a wide range of materials and technologies that comprise the ID design process – from the earliest rough sketch models through detailed mock-up models that are almost indistinguishable from finished industrial products.

The school emphasises the integration of the physical model work in the workshop with virtual 3D modelling in CAD programs, and the workshop has rapid prototyping machines including a 3D printer and a computer-controlled model cutter.

The workshop also contains all the necessary tools and professional speciality machines for processing wood, metal, plastic and special ID model materials such as foam and CibaTool. There are facilities for spray painting models and a well-stocked material inventory. A laser cutter is also available.
