Design on the agenda

Margrethe Vestager will be among the keynote speakers when Design School Kolding hosts international design conference on how to achieve impact

The REDO conference will be held 30 May – 2 June under the auspices of the Cumulus Association.

The conference focuses on launching initiatives that will allow design to have influence and impact on political decision-making processes in favour of sustainable change. One of the keynote speakers will be the European Commissioner for Competetion Margrethe Vestager who will speak om Thursday 1 June at 1 pm. Her talk is open to the public.

Rector Elsebeth Gerner Nielsen says:

-I hope that with the REDO conference we will be able to initiate actions for how to organise our design programmes, our design practices and our design research so they come to have an actual effect on the way that we live; from the micro level of the domestic to the macro level of politics. And also be able to show how design can be used to address challenges relating to climate and the environment as well as job reductions due to automation and robotification.

50 years of Design School Kolding
The conference coincides with the celebration of the school’s 50th anniversary marked by the opening of the Beyond Icons exhibition at the Museum Koldinghus on 1 June. Like the conference the exhibition focuses on the importance of design in society and how we are not always able to see it.
