Elected one of Europe’s best

For the fourth year running, Design School Kolding has been listed as one of Europe’s top design schools. 100 out of 700 schools of architecture and design have made it through the eye of the needle.

Each year Domus Magazine publishes its highly respected list of the best educational institutions for architecture and design. For the fourth year in a row, Design School Kolding has been included in the list with special focus on the study programme Industrial Design.

Peter Barker, Head of Education and Industrial Design at Design School Kolding is happy that Design School Kolding has been elected:

- I am very pleased that Designskolen Kolding has been included once again in this prestigious ranking. Internationalisation is one of several aims on our school’s agenda and to be visible through such well known media as Domus helps us greatly in this task, he says.

The guide adopts several methodological criteria to select 50 schools of architecture and 50 of design, based on their reputation in the architect/designer community, their access to new technologies, their associations with other schools and the internship system, and an appraisal of the results delivered as seen a posteriori by alumni plus input from interviews with new graduates. It also lists details of the school, study course and the cost/timing of enrolment as well as useful contacts. But don't expect the schools to be ranked: this guide believes design schools have become too diverse to compare with one another, believing instead that for every potential student there is a school that is the right match.

This edition includes a key new feature, having been expanded to include an initial selection of non-European schools, to which it devotes a targeted and reasoned introduction with ad hoc entries.

The guide is free with the December 2016 issue of Domus and free to subscribers for download in the digital version.
