A handful in Milan

Kolding designers in prestigious exhibition at the world’s largest design event

Four former Design School Kolding students will be represented when the Danish Arts Foundation opens the 9th consecutive MINDCRAFT exhibition with a selection of Denmark’s finest new designs, arts and crafts at the Milan Design Week.

Two ceramicists, Marianne Krumbach and her slightly older colleague Ole Jensen, experiment with expressions and shapes in burned clay.
With the piece ’Denmark on My Mind’, Fashion Designer Nicholas Nybro celebrates idyllic summer nights contrasted by a political climate dominated by hate and fear in a Denmark that he hardly recognises.
Textile Designer Rosa Tolnov Clausens exhibits ’Deal with it’, a woven experiment that explores what happens when a process is disrupted by change.
Finally, Henrik Vibskov, Fashion Designer and Affiliate Professor at Design School Kolding, shows SUB3; a shell that comprises the physical and the mental in a new and pleasant way.

Significant event
Once again, the Danish Arts Foundation has chosen the design duo GamFratesi to curate and stage the exhibition, which will be displayed at Circolo Filologico in the centre of Milan. GamFratesi has chosen a theme that adds an extra dimension to MINDCRAFT16.

- We have decided on the theme ’In My Mind Craft’. We have picked a new historic venue; the Institute of Philology in the centre of Milan. Here they study the origin of texts and literature, and based on the studies of the origins of a project, an idea, a thought, we have emerged ourselves in ancient conceptions of the human brain to inspire our exhibition concept. The selected artists and designers for the MINDCRAFT16 have each in their own way interpreted the theme ’In My Mind Craft’ when creating their works, explains GamFratesi.
