Historically High Employment Among Designers
New data shows that a significantly larger percentage of newly graduated designers from Design School Kolding are finding employment. At Design School Kolding, this figure has reached its highest level to date. The latest figures indicate that almost 86 percent of the graduates who completed their studies in 2021 are employed. This points to a generally positive trend for the school's alumni.
Lene Tanggaard, the Rector of Design School Kolding, stated:
- In recent years, we have consistently worked on developing an education where our students increasingly learn to assess their own skills and put them into practice. We have a strong collaboration with our board of representatives, and we have set a common agenda with our stakeholders in this area. I believe this is one of the reasons why our employment rate is historically high.
For the second consecutive year, Design School Kolding can report an increase in the employment rate. In 2022, nearly 78 percent of the school's graduates were employed, and with the latest employment figures, the growing demand for designers educated at Design School Kolding has only increased further. This positive development is the result of a targeted effort to make the education relevant for both students and the business world. Rector Lene Tanggaard elaborates:
- The ability to create solutions and products that are valuable for users and society is essential in the school's education. Designers play a crucial role in various industries, including textiles and clothing, industrial design, system and service design, as well as communication design. There is strong evidence that the demand for their expertise in areas such as green transition, innovation, and welfare design is greater than ever before.
The Ministry of Education and Research publishes unemployment statistics for artistic design programs in Denmark every autumn, based on measurements taken among graduates who completed their studies two years earlier. In 2023, Design School Kolding is noted for an unemployment rate of 14.5 percent, while the Royal Academy reports an unemployment rate of 23.4 percent for designers.
