Material course: Illustration made with felt-tip pens

Normally I am a textile student, but the last 3 weeks I have had a course in illustration. It has been very exiting, challenging and rewarding.

We were only allowed to use felt-tip pens and had to explore the opportunities of this one material. The first week I had a lot of confusing moments. It was so challenging to find an interesting and original look with the childish-looking felt-tip pens.

After some days I started only to draw textures and patterns. It was so interesting just to geek this in some days (maybe because of my textile background). We had a theme called “Another and a Better World”. In the beginning of the course I drew different cozy rooms, which I would like to stay in. Therefore I choose to draw rooms made out of simple textured surfaces.

My opinion is that confusion is great sometimes. It is were you force yourself to do something else than normally.
