Former student receives honorary award

Lars Gabel receives the Danish Ministry of Culture's Illustration Award for his illustrations in H.C. Andersen's The Wild Swans.

Lars Gabel graduated from Design School Kolding in 1999. Now he receives the Danish Ministry of Culture's Illustration Award for his illustrations in H.C. Andersen's The Wild Swans.

In the nomination the committee states:
”Lars Gabel's illustrations connect beautifully with both the adventurous and the disturbing elements of Andersen's fairytale. 'It was an image more splendid than she had ever seen', Elisa thinks to herself when she sees her own shadow and that of the flying swans depicted on a cloud. The reader thinks the same of Lars Gabel's illustrations after reading the book: Splendid!"

The honorary award will be presented by Danish Minister for Culture Marianne Jelved on 16 April.
