Trends!
You know, when you’re in a new place you tend to notice the little things that are common or popular there. Well, I have been doing the same. I have been noticing the little plants in every house window, the slope roofs, the attention to tiny details, the peculiar way of layering and combining the colours and materials in the dressing style, the plain white interiors.
These, as I observed, are very Danish and simplistic. This simplistic aspect about the Danish surroundings and design is fascinating for me. Where I come from, I am used to more "chaos" than "order" in everything around and here it is completely the opposite. Everything here is so organised and ordered and to be honest, I am totally enjoying it.
Why I am telling you this? Here goes, my next course is a trend course. We are learning how to create a trend and its pretty damn complex. Then again, what isn’t!? I am working with the other exchange students on this one. We found out that we all have noticed these small differences and we decided to make this our trend. The main keyword for the trend board is "Merge". So we named our trend "Amalgam" which means merging; merging between geometric and organic, natural and man-made, tradition and modern, and the contrast between light and dark.
This is still in the rough stage and there is lots more to think about. I am quite curious as to were this will lead me in the next weeks...
