Tekst
Challenging a common and standardised aesthetic ideal where beauty is equated with the pure and the perfect; that was the goal industrial designer, Guglielmo Brambilla, set for himself with his graduation project. In collaboration with the Italian ceramics producer Bitossi Ceramiche and with assistance from the Danish ceramist, Janni Godtliebsen, he has designed a process that can create an infinite number of variations of a given clay or porcelain product.
The reason the designer chose to work with these very materials was that ceramics already in many cases bares the unique imprint of the production process. The end result of the graduation project is a number of cups and bowls each deviating slightly from the standard. In this way the imperfect is celebrated because it is equated with a unique expression in each individual product.
