Meet DigiHub Designer Maria Jędryszek

What is your educational and/or professional background?
I have a Bachelors degree in industrial design and I have worked in both industrial design and communication design, as well as I have experience in the film industry doing production design

What is your role in DigiHub?
My role in DigiHub varies from project to project- from designing and building prototypes, CAD and renders to facilitating workshops and collecting all the gathered data in processes books.

Tell us about a DigiHub project – current or completed.
I have worked on the Nord Modules project- from data collection to prototyping and finalizing the design of the gate and top module for mobile industrial robots . I have been responsible for the data collection, design and prototyping an autonomous canteen system with Dinner Deluxe and currently am involved in the Redresser project- enhancing the navigation system for a self-driving machine for grass treatment and designing a platform to connect drone operators with clients, together with Plan2Fly.

What can businesses gain from working with DigiHub?
In DigiHub we try to tackle each project holistically. With extensive research, field studies and user testing, we try and find the optimal solution for the given problem. Through close collaboration with the clients and involving all stakeholders in the process we can generate valuable insights to create the best possible design together.

What have you gained?
While working in DigiHub I learned a lot about working closely with the client and stakeholders and got to test various design methods and tools. The diversity of the projects keeps me constantly learning something new and that’s exciting!

What has surprised you the most about working in DigiHub?
I think the variety of different projects and industries that we work with. It’s a wonderful opportunity to learn!

What are you particularly interested in or inspired by at the moment?
Aside from being very interested in new technologies and product design, I enjoy exploring my study focus- design for social sustainability. I have also recently found a passion towards speculative design and critical design.

What role do you think design and designers will play in the future?
Design is a wonderful mix of art, craft, science, technology, social studies and more. Designers have a great impact on shaping the world and I think the role of designers will only grow with time.
