New radio format for DR
9 proposals, 3 DR representatives and a classroom at Design School Kolding packed with eager students. The stage was set for the presentation of concepts for new formats for DR, the Danish Broadcasting Corporation. Based on an introduction by Journalist Ole Huld Jacobsen from DR Culture Partners, Design School Kolding students have spent one week working on brand new formats for the broadcasting corporation.
New experiences for listeners
”Come up with a concept in which, for one day, things are not how they usually are when you turn on the radio". This was the challenge.
Using design and artistic experiments students have worked around the clock to move the boundaries for how to engage listeners in radio production.
The finished concepts are very different. Some include all of the DR channels, while others stick with fewer or even just one radio channel. One of the ideas does not relate to radio channels at all, but to sound as a form of experience.
Presentation for DR
All of the concept proposals were presented to a small delegation from DR: Journalist Ole Huld, Journalist Jonathan Herrik, known as PIK-kunstner and from the TV show Perlevenner, and finally Head of DR Culture Kåre Poulsen.
During the next few months, the delegation will be presenting the ideas to a group of people at DR. The ambition is that some of the students concepts will air on DR in 2014.
