‘PRIVATE’ – Multifunctional hallway furniture
BA course: ‘PRIVATE’ – Multifunctional hallway furniture, Industrial Design – Bachelor, 2nd Year
Background
This course deepens students’ understanding of the private home as a design context by linking the idea of homeliness with stable construction and sustainable design for disassembly. Students develop a home product that explores the interplay between form, materials, structural logic, and production techniques such as CAD modelling.
Ilia Sabatier, Nanna GT, and Ellen Sønderskov Andersen have each created their own take on a multifunctional hallway piece, in the form of the stools: 'Récréation Collection – Tabouret petit pas', 'OneTwo', and 'Lille Møbel'.
The hallway welcomes you home and serves as a high-traffic space with many functions. A well-designed hallway piece is both practical and pleasing to use – and made with sustainability in mind.
