Riso & paperform

Riso & Paperform Studio is a workshop primarily for Communication Design students who wish to incorporate print, paper, and physical prototyping into their creative practice. The studio combines experimental print production with hands-on prototype development, providing opportunities to explore paper as both a communication medium and a construction material.

The studio facilities are reserved for projects that are academically relevant and connected to students’ education, coursework, or other study-related activities.

The Riso section of the studio enables students to produce Risograph prints with support from the studio manager or the studio’s super-users. Here, students work with printing processes, colour layering, editions, and material selection to support the development of graphic projects, publications, and visual experiments as part of their academic practice.

The Paperform section is dedicated to the development of physical prototypes in paper and cardboard. Students can create models, mock-ups, publications, and packaging, while working with finishing techniques such as cutting, folding, embossing, assembly, and bookbinding. The studio is equipped with a range of small-scale specialist machines and hand tools, enabling students to test production methods and manufacturing processes on a manageable scale. The work carried out in the studio is intended to support study-related projects and provide students with the opportunity to transform ideas into physical prototypes and finished products.
