Textile samples inspired by an insect

BA Course: ‘Textile Techniques and Tools’ – Textile samples inspired by an insect Textile Design – Bachelor, 1st Year
Background

A strong understanding of textile tools, construction techniques, fibres and colour is essential to working as a textile designer. In this course, students explore and experiment in the print, weave and knit workshops, developing a cohesive series of textile samples based on their own unique sources of inspiration.

Emma Marie Leth Beiter and Siff Præstegaard Grosell have each found inspiration in a different insect to create their own series of textile samples. Mastery of various textile techniques is developed throughout the textile design course and supports the development of the students’ individual design identity. In the textile samples and moodboards, the students demonstrate in this exercise how different tools and materials, colours, textures, and densities can be combined to realise their design intentions.
