Joint opening for the designers of the future

A string of sparkling new design pearls will be beautifully presented when the raw brick walls of Koldinghus once again frame the Design School Kolding Graduation Exhibition.

Under the headline I + you = we, 76 new designers display their best projects inside the ruin hall of the ancient castle and thus allow the public a glimpse of what the design concept anno 2014 entails: Drum skin furniture, tatooed leg prostheses, graphic notation systems, reinvented funiture classics and much, much more.

Designers and more
- The new designers can give form, they can perform research, they can analayse and visualise. They master a number of design methods that are applicable to a variety of contexts other than those related to classic design. A designer who specialises in fashion does not "just" design clothes, but is able to support the fact that the fashion industry - or any industry - continues to grow and create, says Rector at Design School Kolding Elsebeth Gerner Nielsen.

Focus on competences
The catalogue that accompanies the exhibition is a "catalogue and more" as well. Under the headline I can. I know. I am. the catalogue focuses on the specialist domains of the new designers rather than the exhibited projects. An approach Design School Kolding has taken deliberately to make the designers more visible to the business community and thereby improve their chances in the job market.

Opening at Koldinghus
The exhibition is curated by Lasse Schuleit and opens on Wednesday 25 June from 15 – 17 at Koldinghus. The exhibition is open until 28 September 2014.
