Women inside out

Women are not the same inside and out. Everyone knows this. How this looks when it is visualised in a handful of costumes you can see at the Design School Kolding Graduation Exhibition at Koldinghus on 9 June.

Camilla is a self-employed single living in the city. But when she takes off the black, elegant dress that she wears for work, a silver-shiny bra and a pair of tight hotpants appear. Camilla is a poledancer on the inside.

Every woman consists of a ’plain and a purl’, an outside and an inside, and textile designer Mira Vinzents has turned this idea into a dance performance. She has just graduated from Design School Kolding and her project consists of costumes for the dance performance “Spejlbilleder” (“Mirror Images”) choreographed by Christel Stjernebjerg, who has worked as a set designer and artist at Cirque Du Soleil.

Mira Vinzent is just one of 60 designers graduating from Design School Kolding this year and the scope of the projects is huge: Menswear inspired by monks, fur in circles, beach shoes for city people, nice prison cell decor, computer game for cancer patients, health-promoting colours, and active coal that removes pesticides. These are some of the visual inputs you will get if you visit Koldinghus between 9 June and 9 August 2015.
