By Charlotte Melin

On Monday 29 February, TREFOR gave out DKK 5 million for small and large-scale projects based in Jutland’s Triangle Region area. Kolding School of Design receives a total of DKK 1.2 million.

As of August this year, design will be on the school timetable for 10th graders at Brændkjærskolen in Kolding. Therefore, Kolding School of Design will spend DKK 588,000 on further developing a special teaching method for municipal primary and lower secondary schools.

DKK 615,000 will be used to organise a large-scale conference in 2017 hosted by Kolding School of Design. The Cumulus conference will gather members of the international Cumulus network of international design schools and is expected to draw hundreds of guests. The conference will be held during Design Week Kolding and Kolding School of Design’s graduation exhibition in week 22 next year. The conference focuses on creating new solutions to the challenges that face Denmark and the rest of the world.

- There are fixed rules for how the state distributes its money. Therefore, this grant from TREFOR means a lot to us. It’s the icing on the cake, says Mette Mikkelsen, who is head of development and prorector at Kolding School of Design.

This year, TREFOR decided to contribute to 23 projects, with sums ranging from DKK 20,000 to DKK 615,000. TREFOR rceived 235 applications.

- TREFOR has experienced an overwhelming interest and the projects have been really interesting, says CEO Knud Steen Larsen.
