Semester start 2014: The new shit

The new school year has been kicked off to a great start with fresher’s week, speeches and poetry.

Finally, on the first day of September everyone united and reunited in the Design School Kolding canteen where the expectant young design students were greeted by Rector Elsebeth Gerner Nielsen and the five heads of subject. Head of Industrial Design Kåre Birk had created a special poem for the new students, and the crowd cheered at his creative and surprising rhymes:

- When you get teenage lazy – i’ll kick you out to see if you can fly, cause even though I’m fairly nice – my expectations to you are sky high. YOU are the new shit – YOU are the future – YOU are the fucking fresh juice.

The heads of Fashion, Textiles, Communication Design and Accessory Design also used their creativity to make new and old students feel welcome while Rector Elsebeth Gerner Nielsen used her time on the floor to urge the students to make the most of their talent:

- We expect you to be super talented. Each time Design School Kolding admits 1 student, we reject 10 others. That you have been selected means that now you have an obligation. I expect you to work hard.
