RECONNECTION

This project investigates seaweed as a primary material in textile design through an experimental process. Working with preserved seaweed and agar-based biomaterials, the project explores how a local and overlooked resource can become surfaces with unexpected tactile and visual qualities. It asks what working with a local material reveals about proximity and value.

The project argues that value in design can emerge through sensory engagement, recognisability, and ecological return rather than durability alone.
