Drawing on deep connections to centuries-old traditions for craftsmanship and material use, Elena Werr has designed a piece of outdoor furniture with eelgrass padding in a partnership with OIC Eckernförde.
‘Annoying’ sea plant turned into beautiful furniture
In contrast to the tourists, who find the eelgrass washed up on the beaches a nuisance, she celebrates the important aquatic plant, which is hugely significant to the climate and the marine environment, by giving it a new life as a beautiful piece of furniture.
