Joachim Madsen wrestles with the issue of shop closures and the lifeless façades that arise in the wake of the booming Internet trade.
Rethink the Empty Shop
Instead of letting the closed shops stand as sad symbols of demise, he creates temporary frameworks for social life when the place is rapidly equipped with his concept of a new, inviting façade, fresh interior decor and appealing lighting. It is now open for establishments such as a food club, a thriller cinema, a board game café, toast competitions or morning yoga. As soon as a new tenant is ready to move in, the mobile decor moves on to the next closed shop.
