Historic increase in designers' employment

New figures show that far more newly qualified designers are finding employment. At Design School Kolding, the number is higher than ever before

Far more designers from Design School Kolding get a job after they have completed their education. This becomes evident when looking at the latest calculation of the average vacancy rate for the design programmes from the Danish Ministry of Higher Education and Research.

Close to 85 percent of those who graduated from Design School Kolding in 2020 are employed, and that number is historically high. Rector Lene Tanggaard has a suggestion for the very positive development for the graduates from Design School Kolding:

- The ability to collaborate, act empathetically in the context of others and 'grow' out of diversity are some of the competences our students take with them when they leave the school. Competences that have been designated as the gold of the future. I think that is one of the reasons why we have the lowest unemployment rate for many years. And I believe that in the coming years we will get it down even further, she says.

The calculation by the Ministry of Higher Education and Research shows an unemployment rate of 17.1 percent for graduates from 2020, which is almost half compared to the previous year, when the figure was relatively high at 30.5 percent - not least due to the Corona epidemic. In 2019, the unemployment rate was 23.5 percent.
