Oi Brasil

Autumn is devoted to internationalisation at Design School Kolding and Brazil is on the list.
By Marianne Baggesen Hilger

While the school opens its doors to 30 international students who come from around the world to join the annual DesignCamp, 40 of our own students go out the same doors to fly to Brazil, more specifically São Paulo.

28 September marks the date that we begin one in hopefully many projects with one of the most recognized universities in South America the University of São Paulo/Universidade de São Paulo.

The 40 students are on the second year of the bachelor’s programme and the project is a cross-disciplinary course that focuses on design methods. Along with a group of students from the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism/Faculdade de Arquitetura e Urbanismo the students will work to make a museum building, the MAC Museum, more accessible to the public. The museum was recently moved from the university campus area to the city centre, and now the design task awaits to make the museum open to a wider audience while considering issues of economy, security, etc.

From Design School Kolding Mette Mikkelsen, Prorector, and Maria Kirk Mikkelsen, Teacher, are responsible for the project which also focuses on integrating research in design methods.
