Background
Reusing materials, such as old silver, bits of silk thread and broken strings of pearls, is about much more than sustainability: we need to learn to appreciate the emotions that the traces of the past have embedded in the materials.
The value of a broken string of pearls
That is the basis of Katrine Ingrid Christensen’s jewellery collection TRACES – a collection made of discarded jewellery donations from charity shops in Kolding. The history of the collection invites us to return to what was broken and see the world from a new perspective.
