¨We need 4 hugs a day to survive, 8 for maintenance and 12 for growth.¨- Greenwichpediatrics
Critical Framing is a course about taking an issue or norm and creating a prototype in a creative and humoristic way with a video. My project represents showing your emotional need of physical contact on the outside of your body.
¨We need 4 hugs a day to survive, 8 for maintenance and 12 for growth.¨- Virginia Satir, family therapist
What if instead of being prescribed antidepressants, we were prescribed hugs and exercise? The dress is lit up at the start of the day, representing need of physical touch. As the day progresses with hugs and small physical interaction the lights dim away until it’s a normal outfit. In Norway we asked, what have you done today? In North America they asked, how are you? In Italy they ask, have you eaten today? Through observation I realized there is a lacking knowledge around basic physical needs as well as a natural way to communicate this need for many cultures. This project is dedicated to my patients, my friends, and anyone struggling with skin hunger and loneliness.
