Ten years of play as a force for design
As the summer term draws to a close, we look back on a memorable spring day when Kolding School of Design celebrated the tenth anniversary of Play Design.
The programme included a keynote by American designer Cas Holman, alongside a wide range of exhibitions and activities, a celebratory dinner and, of course, many invited partners from Denmark and abroad who have helped build a strong professional and academic community around play and design over the past ten years.
We asked a selection of guests to share what Play Design means to them and to describe how a playful approach has influenced their work.
Their responses highlight play as a way of sparking curiosity, opening up new perspectives, breaking down barriers and enabling organisations to approach change, innovation and complex challenges in new ways.
In the video, our partners explain why Play Design deserves to be taken seriously and share what they hope the field can change in the years ahead.
