Background
Traditional Greenlandic Craft Practices as Inspiration for Circular Furniture Design

Aanaa

In a time marked by overproduction and linear resource use, this project explores how Greenlandic craft traditions can inspire circular furniture design. Drawing on kayak and dog sled construction techniques and flexible lashings, it investigates repairability, local materials, and design for disassembly. At the same time, the project examines the preservation of cultural heritage and the designer’s role in an industry driven by novelty. The outcome is three stools that demonstrate how flexible lashings can be integrated into contemporary furniture design.
