Background
Traditional Greenlandic Craft Practices as Inspiration for Circular Furniture Design
Aanaa
Aanaa explores how traditional Greenlandic craft practices can inspire circular furniture design. Drawing on construction principles from kayaks and dog sleds, and particularly lashings as a construction method, the project investigates what we can learn from practices developed around resource scarcity and deep material understanding. At the same time, the project examines cultural heritage preservation and the designer’s role in an industry driven by novelty. The result is three stools that demonstrate different ways of using lashings in contemporary sustainable furniture design.
