BERLIN TRIP OF INSPIRATION
The MA is sooo absolutely on!
I’ve been spending a lot of time on understanding my subject and getting around writing the thesis – so I absolutely needed a trip where it was just about getting inspired on a visual and conceptual level.
Therefore I grabbed my boyfriend's hand and we went for a trip to Berlin!
I lived in Berlin when I took a year off from Design School Kolding back in 2010 so I absolutely knew, where I wanted to go. The list of places was long so I made some cards showing the opening hours of the different galleries, museums, shops and exhibitions that I wanted to visit.
Besides that, I created a little book in which I was to write notes and rate the different places. That worked out super great!
The list included:
- Berlinische Galerie
- KW
- Museum für Naturkunde
- Hamburger Bahnhof (which had grown with a several hundred meter long building!)
- Martin-Gropius-Bau
- Sammlung Boros (didn’t get a ticket but I’ve seen the exhibition before, so it was okay)
- Auguststrasse/Linienstrasse
Besides the galeries and museums I also visited some stores:
- Motto (magazines and printedmedia in general)
- Do you read me!? (magazines)
- Modulor (the best store in the world, when it comes to supplies for printing, cutting, building and so on)
- Gestalten Space (bookstore and designshop)
I also had time for dining and wining and visiting my mentor. AND I got tickets to the DRAKE concert in O2! THAT was a crazy show including The Weeknd as warm up (what’s up with that?!) and then KANYE WEST crashed the Drake show!
All in all, a really great trip!
