Along with your subject area, you must choose between 3 thematic focus areas:

The focus areas are a unique opportunity to connect your subject area and your learning to topics and industries that you are passionate about and would like to improve your skills in.

The programme focuses on collaboration with the business community and wider society along with individual courses based on specific cases. Design for Play introduces you to play as a motivating factor in design and development processes. Play contributes to the artistic dimension of the design profession – and together with craft skills and user and business understanding, play can be part of the creation of better solutions and meaningful products, services and systems. As a student, you must like to walk new paths and challenge yourself and others through playful experiences. You will be a frontrunner for new ways of designing in a society and labour market that calls for creativity and innovation.

Design for the Planet addresses one of today's most important challenges, namely creating a more sustainable world. We deal both directly and indirectly with the UN's 17 global goals, which call on all countries to assume a common responsibility and prepare to produce, consume and act sustainably. As a student, you must want to work with sustainable agendas and have a strong foundation in design, as well as be professionally courageous and curious.

Design for People is based on people's needs and behaviour. You will learn design theory, processes and methods that enable you to develop solutions that address human, social and societal challenges. As a student, you must have a social and societal awareness as well as the desire, will and courage to familiarize yourself with different user types.

In this session you choose between 5 parallel Zoom sessions, which represent our 5 subject areas. Along with experienced students/alumni, our heads of subject will introduce you to the programmes and student life and try to answer any questions you might have.
