Design for People: Collaborating Real Time course

We’re excited to see that our Master’s degree students have successfully completed the final exams of their first school year.

All students have honed their design and collaboration skills throughout the year. Students in the Design for People Master’s programme showed this in the course “Collaborating Real Time”, engaging in real-life projects with companies and institutions.

Let's take a closer look at the design challenges our students tackled:

Creating an accessible beach in Kolding Municipality Our students created an inclusive beach experience for all by improving facilities and catering to a diverse group of people.
By addressing the need for improved facilities such as toilets, pathways, and more, they aimed to provide an inclusive and enjoyable beach experience. The feedback from Kolding Municipality: "Amazing work that made us rethink the beach experience.".

Redesigning the sink/ washbasin area in patient bathrooms to improve hand hygiene for Aarhus University Hospital.
Our students redesigned the washbasin area, prioritizing the needs of patients and staff. Their solution focused on organization, usability, and infection control, resulting in an improved patient experience. Some of the feedback from the Hospital was that the students were very fast in identifying the ‘weak points’ and went beyond the research question.

Maintaining brand identity for a modular robot for Capra Robotics.
The students integrated diverse modules into a mobile robot while maintaining the brand's identity. They emphasized consistent brand representation and created a design manual for different application types, resulting in a cohesive and stylish robot platform. The teacher’s feedback was: “You have worked well with a complex challenge and delivered a coherent design and brand identity.”

Transforming the environment of a nursing home for people with dementia.
Our students collaborated with Kolding Municipality to envision a transformative nursing home and activity center for people with dementia. They aimed to empower residents, supporting their well-being and individuality. Some of the feedback the students got was "Your work will help us facilitate conversation and interaction."

Creating a magical user journey in a children's library.
Our students collaborated with Vejle Library to create a user journey for children, leading to a village within the children's library. The goal was to spark curiosity, encourage exploration, and provide a welcoming and positive atmosphere. Feedback received: "The design has a welcoming and positive atmosphere that made us feel heard and seen."
